GNIDA develops a plan to transport waste and maintain clean roads

The GNIDA intends to transport inert and segregated waste from villages to Lakhnawali's waste processing plant. It will also sweep and clean internal roads in villages and sectors throughout Greater Noida using mechanical equipment.

According to GNIDA CEO Narendra Bhooshan, the authority has issued a request for proposals, with the deadline for submissions set for November 22. Following the selection of a company, a centralised waste collection system will be established. This will cost the authority Rs 121 crores.

While the company will be chosen for a 10-year contract, the work will be overseen by the authority's public health department. All houses in selected villages and sectors will have a QR code, which will be scanned by waste pickers using a mobile scanner under the centralised system. The information will be delivered to the vendor, who will present it to the appropriate authority.

Similarly, GPS tracking will be used to track garbage-carrying vehicles.

Residents can file a complaint on GNIDA's Mitra app in the event of non-collection, according to Bhooshan, who added that people can also keep themselves informed of the vendor in charge of their area, whose name, mobile number, and Aadhaar will be uploaded.

Greater Noida generates about 300-350 tonnes of municipal waste per day. For the first time, the authority has prepared a detailed plan for collecting and transporting it from upcoming collection points. In addition, previously unexplored areas will be covered now.

Meanwhile, over the next four years, Rs 150 crore will be spent to clean up internal roads. Greater Noida has been divided into four zones for this purpose.

Mechanical sweeping of roads wider than 30 m and manual sweeping of others will be carried out, according to Bhooshan, who also stated that all manual sweeping staff will be tracked online and that all vehicles will be equipped with GPS.
