The action, conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) of 2002, follows allegations of illegal diversion of funds collected from plot buyers. Centre approves 50 National Highway projects for Manipur
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved 50 National Highway projects in Manipur, covering a total length of 1,026 kilometers. Of these, 44 projects—spanning 902 kilometers—are dedicated to the state’s hilly areas, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure in difficult terrains. As part of the initiative, eight projects to totalling 125 kilometers have already been completed in the hills. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is preparing to build a four-lane road from Majri Chowk in Mullanpur to Baddi via Siswan, aiming to reduce travel time for residents of Himachal Pradesh visiting PGIMER in Chandigarh. The proposed 18-kilometer stretch will form part of a larger ring road encircling Chandigarh, which is intended to ease traffic congestion in the region.
