CRI ventures in to global wastewater pump market with Italian technology

After the successful launch of high-end non-metallic uPVC, CPVC pipes and specialty wires and cables, CRI steps into complete wastewater solutions with Italian technology.
 
The recent acquisition of four-decade old FabbricaItalianaPompeSommergibiliSrl (FIPS), Milan, Italy, has equipped CRI Pumps to launch the complete range of sewage and wastewater pump solutions with italian Technology in India. The range includes sewage pumps, drainage pumps, mixers, agitators, aerators, auto coupling and accessories. With this, CRI will provide complete wastewater solutions to handle raw water, sewage, effluent, stormwater and processed water in municipal, utility and industrial applications. CRI is one among the few pump manufacturers in the world to offer upto 800 kW (1080 hp) sewage pumps for handling huge volumes.
 
Its features include:

  • Optimised hydraulic design with vortex, cutter, mono and multi-channel impellers for challenging applications.
  • Offered in stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, hastelloy, grey iron for most corrosive and aggressive applications.
  • Equipped with IE2 or IE3 efficiency motors with H-class insulation.
  • Motors with thermal overload protection and IP68 protection.
  • Oil probe sensors ensures proper lubrication and also prevents oil contamination.
  • Available from 500 to 3,600 RPM (2 pole to 12 poles) ranging from 0.5 hp to 1,080 HP (50 Hz and 60 Hz)
  • In-built grinder and cutter features to cut solid particles.
  • Solid handling capacity up to 165 mm.
 
Announcing the launch of wastewater pumps,G Soundararajan, Vice Chairman CRI Group, says,“The world pump market estimated US$ 42 billion, in which wastewater pump market is valued at US$ 9 billion. Municipal wastewater plants are the major users, contributing to nearly 23 per cent of the end-user market.The other major users are industries like food and beverages, sugar, textile, paint, tannery, paper and pulp, chemical, pharmaceutical and process industries. The Asia region is considered a key growth market, with China and India topping the list.”
 
The Indian raw and wastewater market is estimated around Rs 2,000 crore. The Indian wastewater market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 12 per cent during 2016-2021. Rapid urbanisation, water scarcity, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) norms, industrialisation are the demand drivers that contribute to the market demand. The Swachh Bharat mission, smart cities, National River Conservation Plan (NRCP) and Clean River Ganga Mission will further drive the municipal wastewater treatment industry over the coming years.
 
As per the latest Ministry of Environment communication, currently, 62,000 MLD of wastewater is generated in urban areas of India, while the capacity for treating wastewater stands at a mere 23,000 MLD.
 
Untreated sewage and industrial effluents pollute the surface and ground water, which is the main source of drinking water, leading to public health concerns. The per capita water supply currently stands at 188.73 litres per day. A massive 73 per cent of this becomes wastewater, demonstrating the seriousness of the wastewater problem. India ranks an alarming third position in the list of most water polluted countries based on the deteriorating quality of water ranking.
 
By 2030, water demand is expected to grow to 1.5 trillion cu m, with supply at about 740 billion cu m, leading to a whopping 50 per cent shortage in India. In this scenario, wastewater recycle and reuse is a more economical measure compared to any other, thus increasing the demand for wastewater pumps and treatment systems. According to CRI, weak regulatory enforcements and lack of public awareness seem to be the industry restraints. The rapid growth of urban population is creating huge pressure on existing water and wastewater infrastructure.
