Smart development projects lined up for Visakhapatnam

A series of smart development projects have been lined up for Visakhapatnam city. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, had earlier, laid the foundation stone for the Rs 300 crore development project undertaken by GVMC. Some of them will be made available to the general public.

NAD flyover, VMRDA's smart city park, and multi-level car parking (MLCP) at Jagadamba junction are among the projects ready for launch.

The construction of the double rotary flyover at NAD, which began on November 17, 2017, at a cost of Rs 150 crore, is expected to be completed soon.

Commuters will be able to travel to Marripalem, Gopalapatnam, Gajuwaka, and Muralinagar via the four legs of the flyover.

As Visakhapatnam prepares to become the state's executive capital, the flyover will play an important role in alleviating traffic congestion.

However, the construction of a rail overbridge (RoB) along the route to the airport, which cost Rs 16 crore, is still on hold. The flyover project will be completed once the RoB is grounded.

VMRDA's smart city park, built at a cost of Rs 30 crore as part of the smart city projects, will welcome residents. The rink is surrounded by greenery and is divided into four zones, each with its adventure cycle track, pathways, seating arrangements, and greenery.

The campus includes a multi-purpose lawn, a renovated old stupa, a yogic walking path, picnic facilities, a boating facility, a sports area, two badminton courts, and basketball and tennis courts. In addition, there is an open gym on the premises. A solar-powered tree and a bench in the park will serve as mobile charging stations.

A multi-level car parking (MLCP) will also be made available to the public at the Jagadamba junction. With a 100-car capacity, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) laid the groundwork for the MLCP in 2019. The five floored (G+4) projects will be built on an area of 367.8 sq mt and will cost around Rs 10 crore.
