World’s first five-in-one foldable shipping container launched

Compact Container Systems (CCS), based in Florida, has introduced the SeaFold HC 40', the world's first five-in-one foldable shipping container. This innovative design aims to streamline operations, reduce empty container movements, and significantly lower carbon emissions in the logistics industry.

The SeaFold 40' addresses a critical issue in shipping: over 20% of ISO containers return empty to their ports of origin. By enabling five folded containers to occupy the space of a single standard 40' HC container, the SeaFold 40' offers a 56% reduction in repositioning costs, an 80% decrease in storage requirements, and up to a 70% reduction in carbon emissions.

"This design revolutionises container management by optimising space and reducing emissions," said Charlie Santos-Buch, CCS Chairman and CEO. "Our containers deliver a safer, more efficient storage and transport system, especially valuable during peak congestion when moving empty containers is essential."

Engineered with top-quality materials, the SeaFold 40' meets all ISO standards and water ingress requirements. Compatible with standard lifting equipment at ports, terminals, and depots, it requires no specialised handling equipment, ensuring seamless integration into existing logistics operations. (ET)
