Turkish cargo vessel with 12 crew members sinks in Black Sea

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that a Turkish cargo ship, carrying 12 crew members, had sunk off the Black Sea coast of Turkey during a storm on November 19. According to the provincial governor's office, the captain of the Turkish-flagged Kafkametler had informed on Sunday morning that the ship was drifting towards a breakwater off Eregli, in the Zonguldak province of northwest Turkey.

Yerlikaya mentioned that the ship had sunk after colliding with the breakwater. Due to the severe storms in the region on Sunday, air and sea vessels were unable to conduct searches, as stated by the governor's office.

Yerlikaya informed reporters, "When the adverse weather conditions improve, search and rescue activities will start immediately." Additionally, he expressed concern as authorities had been unsuccessful in establishing contact with the crew members.
