Kandla Port to Expand by 2030

The Deendayal Port Authority has outlined plans to expand Kandla Port’s capacity to 390 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by 2030. This ambitious goal is part of a larger initiative to modernize India’s port infrastructure and increase handling capacity, catering to the growing demand for goods and cargo.

The expansion will include the construction of new berths, the modernization of existing facilities, and the introduction of advanced technologies to improve cargo handling efficiency. With its strategic location on the western coast, Kandla Port plays a vital role in facilitating trade, especially with countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

The port’s expansion is expected to boost its role in supporting India’s trade growth, improve logistics, and enhance its competitiveness in the global shipping industry. The modernization project will also include upgrades to ensure better environmental sustainability and reduce operational costs.

This capacity increase will enable Kandla Port to accommodate a larger volume of cargo, supporting the country’s manufacturing and export sectors. Additionally, the development is poised to create job opportunities and contribute significantly to the local economy.
