India is investing Rs 40 billion to expand Iran’s Chabahar Port, aiming to boost capacity to 500,000 TEUs over the next decade. The plan includes mobile harbour cranes, a second berth, and modernisation efforts by India Ports Global Ltd (IPGL) to attract Indian shipping lines. Chabahar, a key hub in the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), has seen a 43 per cent rise in vessel traffic and 34 per cent growth in container volumes.
