Revdevelopment of Chennai Egmore railway station to begin shortly

Work will soon start on the Southern Railway's decision to renovate nine stations, including Egmore.

The nine stations that will be renovated include one in Puducherry, three in Kerala, and five in Tamil Nadu. The stations in Tamil Nadu picked are Chennai Egmore, Katpadi Junction, Madurai Junction, Rameswaram, and Kanniyakumari.

The reconstruction of these stations had its beginnings with the foundational work established by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a press release, the Southern Railway has stated: “Of the nine stations, the contract work has been awarded for seven. The finalisation of the award of contract for Chennai Egmore as also the opening of the tender for Kanniyakumari station would be done shortly.”
