Odisha Gets Rs 106 Bn in Rail Budget Up Rs 130 Mn

Over the past three years, Odisha has received over Rs 100 billion annually for railway development, contributing to a total investment of Rs 780 billion in the state during the last decade under the NDA government. In addition, projects worth Rs 200 billion have been sanctioned to further boost the state's railway infrastructure.

The multi-tracking project from Kolkata to Chennai is progressing steadily, with significant progress made between Kolkata and Bhadrak. Work on the third line is already underway, and plans for the fourth line are in the pipeline.

From 2014 to 2025, Odisha has constructed over 2,046 km of new tracks, a network larger than the entire rail system of Malaysia. Additionally, the state has achieved 100% electrification with 1,516 km of track now electrified.

The Kavach safety system has been sanctioned for 1,898 km of rail lines in Odisha, with ongoing work and tenders for 645 km. A total of 1,000 locomotives will be integrated with the system to enhance safety.

Furthermore, six Vande Bharat trains now operate across the state, connecting 17 districts with 25 unique stoppages, improving connectivity and modernising transportation in Odisha.
