Northern Central Railway registers highest freight revenue in Q1 FY22

North Central Railway (NCR) recorded the highest growth till date, in loading and collection of freight revenue during the first quarter (Q1) of FY22.

General manager of NCR VK Tripathi told the media that this year, NCR recorded the best loading in Q1. During April-June FY 21-22, the originating loading has been 4.32 mt against 3.24 mt in the corresponding period of last year, thereby a rise of 33.3% over last year despite the ongoing Covid-19.

During April-June 2021-22, the originating goods earnings were Rs 437.57 crore against Rs 352.33 crore last year, thereby a rise of 24.19% over last year.

Tripathi said that the zonal railway is slowly restoring train services in close consultation with the railway board. Approximately 86% of mail express trains have been resumed, and unreserved passenger trains are now being resumed slowly. He further added that NCR has achieved the best punctuality performance of mail and express trains with 93.12% in the Q1 of the financial year 2021-2022.

On infrastructural strengthening, NCR is aggressively aiming for the electrification of its entire territory.

He further added in FY21 and FY22, a total of 517 route kilometer (RKM) and 917 track kilometer (TKM) routes, are targeted for electrification in NCR and by the end of FY 22-23.

Tripathi said that in line with the national initiative on solar mission, NCR has attached topmost preference to solar energy generation and adopted 'Solar Mission - NCR' for 2021-22.
