NHSRCL launches high-tech track slab facility, empowering Make in India

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has inaugurated a cutting-edge Track Slab Manufacturing Facility (TSMF) in Anand, Gujarat, marking a significant step in the construction of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR). This facility, sprawling across 1 lakh square meters, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology dedicated to producing track slabs essential for the ballastless track works of the MAHSR project.

This manufacturing hub possesses the capability to produce 45,000 precast track slabs specifically tailored for the MAHSR endeavour, encompassing a 116-km-long double line High Speed Rail track. To achieve this, the facility has incorporated 60 high-precision moulds, enabling a daily production capacity of 60 track slabs per day. Approximately 200 track slabs are needed per track kilometre, and the facility boasts a storage capacity of 9,000 track slabs, streamlining the installation process.

The facility operates as a fully automated centre, featuring a Concrete Distribution System. Additionally, NHSRCL has implemented various support facilities, including automated rebar processing machines, a Rebar Yard for cage fabrication, RO plants, Boiler plants, Curing ponds, Electric overhead traveling (EOT) cranes, and Gantry Cranes.

Furthermore, in line with this initiative, NHSRCL is in the process of establishing a second track slab manufacturing facility in Kim Village, near Surat district in Gujarat. This new facility will be instrumental in producing track slabs for the 236 km stretch of the MAHSR corridor in Gujarat.

Notably, this endeavour resonates strongly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' visions, providing a significant boost to these initiatives. By promoting local production and technology transfer, this project not only generates employment opportunities but also enhances the skills of the youth workforce. Moreover, it fosters growth in allied industries such as steel, cement, electrical components, and infrastructure, contributing to the overall development of the region and the nation.
