MoU signed btwn Railways and C-DoT for better telecom services

On Wednesday the Ministry of Railways signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) for the establishment of a collaborative working partnership.

The partnership comprises coordination and resource sharing regarding the provision of telecommunication facilities with respect to the delivery and implementation of C-DoT’s Telecom Solutions and services in the Railways.

With this agreement, C-DoT and the Union Ministry would work together for the modernisation of telecommunication in the Railways for public safety and security services utilising LTE-R as per world standards, 5G use cases in Railways aligning with Make in India policy, Internet of Things (IoT), Machine to Machine (M2M) applications, Video Conference Software (VC DOT), Unified Network Management System, chatting application, OFC Monitoring/Network Management System (NMS), routers, and switches.

The MoU had been signed in the presence of C-DOT Executive Director Rajkumar Upadhyay and Additional Member/Telecom/Railway Board Aruna Singh.

The synergy between the Ministry of Railways and C-DOT would help to provide affordable telecom equipment and services for train operation, security, and public safety applications by lowering the cost of ownership, increasing the Make in India initiative of the Indian government, and helping in decreasing the digital gap in the country.
