The Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) had carried out a successful trial run of the Pettah-SN Junction route of its metro. The rail route marks the first stretch handled by the KMRL.

It conducted another trial run on Monday, 14 February.

The KMRL’s Phase-1 from SN Junction to Thirupunithura is also in its final stages of completion, with 80% of civil work has been completed in parts of the 1.2 km stretch. The land acquisition for the project might be completed soon. As part of the railway extension, KMRL will construct a two-lane bridge parallel to the old bridge in Pettah.
