UP's first green road project to come up in Meerut in 2026

Uttar Pradesh’s first integrated urban road under Chief Minister Green Road Infrastructure Development Scheme (CM-GRIDS) will come up in Meerut. This first green road project will be over 2.15 km in length. The Urban Road Infrastructure Development Agency (URIDA) has shortlisted the agency which will develop the public infrastructure that is maintained by Meerut Municipal Corporation. Estimated to cost Rs 400 million, the stretch of Garh Road spanning between Gandhi Ashram and Tejgarhi has been shortlisted for complete makeover and transformation. The road will be ready and thrown open for vehicular movement within two years. The first project in Meerut is expected to be ready by June 2026.

This road will  reduce travel time between Assam and Meghalaya

The road travel time between Assam and Meghalaya will be reduced to mere 45 minutes from 1.30 minutes. The infrastructure in Northeast India is experiencing significant advancements. This development promises to enhance transportation efficiency, providing a smoother and quicker journey for travellers. The new 36 km road between Assam and Meghalaya which was built by Badri Rai And Company (BRC) cost over Rs 780 million to construct.

Road developers to see slower revenue growth of 5-7 pc next fiscal: Crisil

Revenue growth of road engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies is expected to moderate to 5-7 per cent next fiscal, as lower national highway awarding weighs on their order books, rating agency Crisil said. The credit profiles of these companies will remain stable, supported by steady operating profitability and strong balance sheets. Revenue growth will be impacted this fiscal and the next after a compound annual growth rate of 13 per cent over the past five years. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) had awarded an average of 12,500 km projects between fiscal 2022 and 2023 but the number dropped to 8,581 km last fiscal and is seen modest at 8,000 km this fiscal.

This tech can cut road accidents by 40-50 percent

Apart from real-time alerts, the system is also able to bring long-term behavioural changes to drivers. Netradyne sends snippets of videos of driver behaviour and points out what needs to change in order to lower risks. Apart from alerts, the system also helps improve upon one’s driving habits. The latest version of the product has micro weather recognition capabilities. It can detect if there is snow on the road or if there is fog. The systems have done about 14 billion miles and are doing about 600 million miles a month now. With this data, including data of thousands of accidents a month, the company is able to very accurately predict the chances of a driver having an accident in the next 12 months or how many vehicles in a large fleet could have an accident in the next 12 months.

UP to install solar power plants along 296-km Bundelkhand Eway

The Uttar Pradesh [UP] government plans to install solar power plants along both sides of the 296-km Bundelkhand Expressway. In a way, this will become a model for future expressways. The cost of this project is estimated to be around Rs 18 billion and the rate of electricity produced from it will be Rs 4 to 4.50 per unit. This will also be a model of land use for energy projects. Solar power plants will be installed on 15 metres of space along both sides of the 296-km Bundelkhand Expressway, which can lead to electrification of the entire expressway. This is the first project of its kind in India on this scale. This project will increase the beauty of the expressway as well as provide employment.

About 22 lakh draft documents uploaded, only 5,300 e-khatas issued

Confirming that the e-khata system is floundering, data from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has revealed that while 22 lakh draft e-khatas are available online, only 5,324 - or, slightly over 0.2% - final e-khatas had been issued till Friday, though the system was launched with much fanfare in early Oct.
