Road Ministry to Release 700 Hectares of Surplus Land

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has announced plans to release 700 hectares of surplus land acquired for various highway projects. This initiative aims to optimise land usage, generate revenue, and support broader developmental goals.

The surplus land, initially acquired for expanding and constructing national highways, has been identified as no longer required for these projects. The Road Ministry is now focusing on repurposing this land to enhance its utility and contribute to economic development. The freed-up land will be offered for various purposes, including commercial, industrial, and residential development, in line with the government's vision of promoting sustainable growth and infrastructure development.

The process involves a thorough review and inventory of all land holdings associated with highway projects across the country. The identified surplus land will be systematically released in phases, ensuring transparency and maximising public benefit. The ministry has emphasised that this initiative will not only unlock the value of underutilised assets but also support the government's ambitious infrastructure development agenda.

Revenue generated from the sale or lease of this land will be reinvested into ongoing and future highway projects, ensuring a continuous improvement in the country?s road infrastructure. This strategic move is expected to bolster the economy by attracting investments, creating job opportunities, and supporting urbanisation.

The Road Ministry?s plan to release surplus land highlights its commitment to efficient resource management and proactive steps towards achieving national development goals. By unlocking the potential of unused land, the ministry aims to contribute significantly to India's growth and infrastructure landscape.
