PWD to repair 10 road bridges in Delhi

The Public Works Department (PWD) is set to undertake repair work of 10 road bridges connecting north to central Delhi. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 9 crore.

The bridges, situated at Grand Trunk Road intersection, Timarpur intersection, Maurice Nagar, Mall Road intersection, Vijay Nagar, near Shakti Nagar and Bharat Nagar, and one over Najafgarh drain, are old and urgently require repairs. The repair work will include replacing the existing expansion joints and steel anchor plates with new ones, repairing the side walls of the bridges, laying new bituminous surfaces with carpeting, and pressure grouting for the slabs, beams and columns.

The agency will also remove overgrown grass and shrubs on the sides of the bridges and beautify the walls with thematic paintings. The expansion joints will have a warranty for 15 years.

The repair work will be carried out one bridge at a time to avoid inconveniencing commuters. After awarding the project, the PWD will approach the traffic police for a no-objection certificate to close the portion of the road for repairs.

Currently, the PWD is engaged in the repair work of the crucial Chirag Dilli flyover in south Delhi, where the expansion joints of both carriageways are being replaced. After completing the repair work at Chirag Dilli, similar work is scheduled for four other flyovers in south and central Delhi.

ISTS-based renewable energy projects enable inter-state power transfer, helping utilities balance supply and demand gaps faced by local distribution companies (DISCOMs). Since 2020, these projects have contributed significantly to the issuance of utility-scale renewa..
