PCMC to widen service road on Mumbai-B'lore highway

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation completed the acquisition of around 70% of land needed for widening the service road along the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway in its jurisdiction.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is scheduled to start the work of a 9.8-km service road on each side once the land is acquired.

?We organised a camp for land acquisition in August last year and received a good response, as over 50% of the land was acquired in two days.

We have also initiated a process to acquire the remaining land,? a senior PMC official said. Officials confirmed several residents from Tathawade opposed giving land for the road. ?A majority of landowners on the stretch were developers and builders, hence they provided the land against Floor Space Index (FSI) or Transfer of Development Rights (TDR). We are in touch with residents who are not ready to give their land,? an official said.
