Mumbai Coastal Road Project is 67% done

The South Mumbai Coastal Road Project is currently 67% finished, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The project will create an eight-lane coastal road with a total length of 10.58 km by integrating a twin tunnel that is 2.070 km long by November 2023.

There will be three interchanges totaling 15.66 kilometres along the route. The length of the Sea Wall/Promenade will be 7.47 kilometres.

The BMC shared an aerial view of the coastal road project, which includes the Princess Street Flyover (Marine Drive) to Priyadarshini Park tunnel route, the Swarajya Bhoomi (Girgaon Chowpatty) to Priyadarshini Park tunnel route, Priyadarshini Park to Baroda Palace, and the Baroda Palace to Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link (Bandra-Worli Sea Link)

Benefits of the Mumbai Coastal Road Project:

-The Coastal Road Project will help reduce travel time by approximately 70%. While the average speed on Mumbai's roads is between 20 and 21 kilometres per hour. The speed limit for cars on the Mumbai Coastal Road is estimated to be 75 kmph, similar to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link.

-In addition to reducing noise and air pollution. Fuel consumption will also be reduced by 34%.

-Green open spaces and a butterfly garden are also advantages of the project.

-It will have underground parking in four locations, with a total capacity of 1,856 cars.

This project used the Saccardo Ventilation System in Tunnel for the first time in India. The bridge is nearing completion on Monopile Foundation.

According to the BMC, the right tunnel has been completed, while the left tunnel is nearing completion. The entire project, which includes the reclamation of 111 hectares of Arabian Sea, has been divided into three packages.
