MSRDC starts land survey of eastern half of Pune ring road

With the land measurement process for the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation's (MSRDC) ring road's western section nearing completion, officials began a joint measurement survey (JMS) for the eastern side of the route on Tuesday. The survey began at the village of Garade in the Purandar tehsil.

A projected circular outer road for the Pune metropolitan region is known as the Pune ring road.

According to MSRDC authorities, the land measurement of the western part of the road is 95 percent complete, with only three villages in Maval tehsil remaining to be surveyed. The ring road's eastern section will travel through 46 communities, and officials expect the land measurement process to take three months.

Sandeep Patil, MSRDC's sub-divisional engineer, said that they have started the land measurement procedure for the eastern part of the ring road from Garade village and are meeting residents to finish the survey within three months.

During the land measurement process for the western half of the project, officials received opposition from residents Patil added that there is resistance in the eastern part, primarily from villages surrounding Rajgurunagar in Khed tehsil and they are having discussions with the villagers to see if they'll cooperate.

On May 19 of this year, MSRDC gained formal approval for the land acquisition process on the eastern side of the ring road. In Pune district, the eastern ring road will travel through 46 villages in five tehsils: Maval, Khed, Purandar, Bhor, and Haveli. The western side of the route passes through 38 communities, with three settlements still awaiting land surveys.

Kelwade, Chandkhed, and Bebdohol are the three villages that will be completed by the end of this month, according to Patil.

The state government had approved property acquisition for MSRDC's 173.70 km ring road project. The project will necessitate the acquisition of over 1,600 hectares of land, with a road cost estimate of Rs 26,000 crore and land acquisition of Rs 5,000 crore.
