IRB Infra, Adani to take up Burdwan highway works under Bharatmala

Adani Group and IRB Infrastructure have taken up a Rs 4,215 crore six-laning project of two stretches of National Corridor NH19 under the Bharatmala Pariyojana project of the Government.

Two giant road infrastructure firms were selected for the ambitious Rs 4,215 crore six-laning project of two stretches of National Corridor NH 19 (erstwhile NH 2) – Mumbai-based IRB Infrastructure and Ahmedabad-based Adani Group.

Finally, they have kicked off manpower mobilisation and machinery resources, and, as per the senior authorities, they have already commenced the basic works between Bud Bud and Galsi stretch of the highway in Burdwan (East).

The mega 131 km venture is being implemented in two parts from Panagarh in Burdwan (West) to Palsit in Burdwan (East) and from Palsit to Dankuni in Hooghly under the Bharatmala Pariyojana of the Centre. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had floated tenders for the projects on December 22 last year.

The projects received tenders from four firms, and the NHAI recently has announced a Letter of Agreement (LoA). The Adani Group has proposed an 11.5% premium of the capital price of the Panagarh – Palsit stretch. The IRB Infrastructure has offered the highest 10.8% premium for the Palsit to Dankuni stretch.
