FASTag automated daily toll collections rise by 45% in August

India's economy is reviving, as is the country itself. Countless porta-cabins dotting Indian highways tell us that FASTag automated daily toll collections have risen by 45% in August after falling by 25% in May from April.

Daily toll collections had fallen to Rs 68 crore by May, a record low.

August will be the third month in a row that toll collection has increased on a daily basis on average.

Factory output and industrial production have improved across key sectors due to the relaxation of lockdown restrictions and stable demand. As a result, business activity has picked up.

E-way bill growth is cited by analysts as a significant factor in explaining the rise in daily toll collections on average. 86351801E-way bills record interstate and intrastate freight transport.

E-way bills increased to 65.89 million units in August from 39.9 million units in May, according to GST Network, a company that provides a database of Goods and Services Tax (GST) filings and transactions.
