Goa mulls to build road with steel slag

The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) and the PWD have in principle agreed to build a model pilot road from steel slag. Details are yet to be worked out, with the recent meeting between members of the Board, Public Works and a representative of the industries discussing how to take the project forward.

GSPCB Chairman Jose Manuel Noronha said that the industries have been asked to conduct an analysis of the slag to check if it is hazardous. He said that the analysis is to prove whether it is safe to use.

The firms have been asked to submit their report to take the discussion further. He said that once the Board get the report it will move the proposal to the government for final approval, he added.
