UP will have more than 20 operational airports

The government of Uttar Pradesh has announced that the state will soon have more than 20 operational airports, five of which will be international airports.

"Unprecedented work has been done in the field of civil aviation during the tenure of the Yogi government," stated state finance minister Suresh Khanna in his speech. There are currently nine operational airports in the state, and 80 destinations can be reached by air."

In addition, he stated that the state has three operational international airports and the ones coming up in Jewar and Ayodhya are going to be international airports.

The minister added that the construction of six airports—Aligarh, Azamgarh, Moradabad, Shravasti, Chitrakoot, and Sonbhadra—is nearing completion during the Yogi government's tenure. Four airports have already been constructed.

"A total of 21 airports will become operational in the state in the coming years, with five international and 16 domestic airports. "We believe that the state's citizens should have access to air travel," he added.

The Yogi government's annual budget for the fiscal years 2023 and 2024 also places a special emphasis on expanding the state's rail and ropeway connectivity.
