UDAN Boosts New Aircraft Demand

The Indian government recently announced that the Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme has successfully generated demand for new aircraft in the country. The UDAN scheme was introduced to boost regional air connectivity and make flying more affordable for common citizens.

According to the government, the UDAN scheme has played a significant role in creating a demand for new aircraft. This development indicates a positive shift in the aviation sector, showcasing the success of the scheme in enhancing regional connectivity.

UDAN was launched in April 2017 as a part of the National Civil Aviation Policy. It aims to strengthen regional air connectivity by linking underserved and unserved airports across the country. The scheme provides incentives such as viability gap funding to airlines to facilitate their operations on these routes. This, in turn, leads to reduced airfare for passengers, making air travel more accessible to the common man.

Since its inception, UDAN has witnessed substantial growth, with an increasing number of routes being connected and flights being operated to underserved and unserved airports. This expansion has resulted in enhanced connectivity within the country, benefitting both travelers
