Trial run successful for proposed helicopter routes from Manipur to Mizoram

A test flight for the proposed helicopter service on two new routes has been successfully carried out. These routes will establish connections between three tribal-dominated districts in Manipur and the cities of Aizawl (Mizoram) and Dimapur (Nagaland). The trial took place on Thursday, August 17.

Following the completion of the trial flight, a comprehensive report will be compiled and submitted to both the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the respective state governments involved.

There are strong indications that two additional routes may soon be initiated under the existing helicopter subsidy scheme. These routes include the route from Churachandpur in Manipur to Aizawl, as well as connections between Kangpokpi and Senapati districts in Manipur and Dimapur.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had unveiled plans the previous week to introduce helicopter services on two routes that will connect three tribal-dominated districts in Manipur with Aizawl and Dimapur.
