Motherson Sumi Systems secures major order from Boeing

Motherson Sumi Systems, a worldwide supplier of automotive components, announced that it secured an order from Boeing, an American multinational corporation, to manufacture and deliver aftermarket moulded polymer parts for commercial aeroplane interiors.

It is the first order of Motherson from Boeing and would start from the third quarter (Q3) of the fiscal year (FY) 2023. The parts would be manufactured in a plant in Noida. Although, the firm has not disclosed the order's value.

Motherson CEO (Aerospace division) Kunal Bajaj told the media that Motherson would become a tier-1 supplier to Boeing by this order.

He said it marks the start of a new journey in line with the vision of Motherson for development in aerospace.

Ashwani Bhargava, Boeing India Senior Director, Supply Chain, said that it is a significant step in their commitment to the Atma Nirbhar Bharat vision of the Government of India.

Boeing is focused on supporting the development of defence and aerospace capabilities in the country.

Motherson said that with capabilities in aerospace like materials, aerostructures, wiring harnesses and worldwide manufacturing footprint, Motherson has the required know-how to assist the next ramp-up of production for major global aircraft manufacturers.

It is including the company's growth strategy to strengthen the non-automotive business as announced during the five-year plan Vision 2025.
