Tata Power and Tata Motors to launch 200 fast EV charging stations

Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has partnered with Tata Motors Limited to establish 200 fast-charging stations for electric commercial vehicles (CVs) across major metropolitan cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. This initiative is aimed at making charging solutions more accessible for small electric CVs and advancing sustainable mobility in India.

As part of the collaboration, Tata Motors' electric CV owners will benefit from exclusive charging tariffs, reducing operational costs and boosting profitability. With this expansion, electric CV users across the country will have access to nearly 1,000 strategically located fast chargers.

Vinay Pathak, Vice President & Business Head- SCV & PU, Tata Motors, highlighted the partnership’s role in transforming the electric CV landscape, saying, "We are pleased to strengthen our partnership with Tata Power, ensuring easy access to fast chargers at convenient locations. This collaboration helps democratise eco-friendly and emission-free vehicles, with a focus on renewable energy to make operations greener."

Deepesh Nanda, CEO & MD, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, emphasised the importance of an expanded charging network, stating, "Our collaboration aims to accelerate e-mobility by providing an expansive and reliable EV charging network across India, complementing our existing presence in public, semi-public, bus, fleet, and home charging segments."

Under its EZ Charge brand, Tata Power has developed an extensive network of over 100,000 home chargers, 5,500 public and semi-public chargers, and 1,100+ bus charging stations across 530 cities and towns. These chargers are strategically placed at highways, hotels, malls, hospitals, and residential complexes, significantly contributing to the growth of electric mobility in the country.

Tata Motors supports its electric CVs with over 150 Electric Vehicle Service Centres nationwide. Its Ace EV, equipped with an advanced battery management system and 'Fleet Edge' telematics, provides real-time insights into vehicle health, location, and driver behavior, enhancing vehicle uptime and road safety.

This collaboration marks a critical step in building a robust ecosystem for electric commercial vehicles in India, facilitating the broader adoption of eco-friendly and emission-free transportation solutions. (ET)
