Sajjan Jindal is CW Person of the Year - Private Sector

Sajjan Jindal, Chairman, JSW Group, was awarded as the ‘CONSTRUCTION WORLD Person of the Year 2021 - Private Sector’ at the 19th edition of the CONSTRUCTION WORLD ANNUAL AWARDS (CWAA) – a calendar event for all industry stalwarts – held this year on October 22. The awards are organised by CONSTRUCTION WORLD, the largest circulated construction business magazine in India.

The CWAA was part of the 7th INDIA CONSTRUCTION FESTIVAL (ICF) organised by FIRST COUNSTRUCTION COUNCIL (FCC), an infrastructure think-tank set up in 2003, focused on providing latest updates on the construction industry in India, and dedicated to promoting its causes and needs. FCC provides a platform to promote the adoption of best practices and to be the torchbearer for all policy initiatives that are needed to enhance the importance and welfare of the construction industry and the industry’s unified voice.

The CW Person of the Year award

THE CONSTRUCTION WORLD - PERSON OF THE YEAR Award was instituted in the year 2010. CW’s first-ever awardee, was Dr. E. Sreedharan, also known as the 'Metro Man' for his outstanding contribution to the Delhi Metro. Since then, the awards have shone a light on those taking outstanding strides towards helping make a difference. The jury handpicks this awardee from a list of nominees, for their noteworthy contributions to the construction sector.

This year, the jury picked Sajjan Jindal, Chairman, JSW Group, as the CW PERSON OF THE YEAR in the Private Sector.

An accomplished business leader and second-generation entrepreneur, Mr Sajjan Jindal had the foresight to lead the steel industry and JSW in particular on a transformational journey, contributing significantly to India’s growth philosophy.

A mechanical engineer, Mr. Sajjan Jindal led the JSW Group through some of its most exciting phases, including the public offer announcements of JSW Steel and JSW Energy in 1995 and 2009-10, respectively. Today, the Group takes pride in expanding the business landscape across Infrastructure, Sports and Cement, with group revenues at US$ 13 billion.

A firm believer of the Make in India philosophy, Mr Sajjan Jindal has been awarded on many global platforms for his contribution and commendable work. He has been awarded the JRD Tata Award 2017 for ‘Excellence in Corporate Leadership in the Metallurgical Industry.’ He was also awarded the ‘2014 National Metallurgist Award: Industry’ instituted by the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, among other awards.

His keenness to give back to society and a desire to improve the lives of individuals led to the formation of the JSW Foundation, which is committed to providing the means to empower individuals to bridge the socioeconomic divide and contribute to the creation of equitable and sustainable communities. The foundation is proud to have touched the lives of over 1 million people by providing them with opportunities for a bright and sustainable future.

Recognised globally for his impact on the steel industry internationally, Mr. Sajjan Jindal is Chairman of the World Steel Association, one of the largest and most dynamic industry associations in the world. He is the first representative from an Indian company to serve in this role. He is also Vice President & Chairman, Ferrous Division of the Indian Institute of Metals. He was past President of Indian Steel Association as well as the former President of the Institute of Steel Development & Growth.

Mr Sajjan Jindal’s son Mr Parth Jindal received the award on behalf of Mr Sajjan Jindal.

Mr Parth Jindal earned his MBA from Harvard Business School in 2016 and his Bachelor in Arts in Economics and Political Science from Brown University in 2012. He joined the $13 billion JSW Group in 2012, prior to which he spent two years working abroad. On joining the JSW Group, Mr Parth Jindal was appointed an Economic Analyst within the Group’s Corporate Strategy and lead all strategic projects. He was instrumental in devising a new retail strategy for JSW Steel and additionally took up the challenging task of turning around some of JSW Group’s loss-making entities where he continues to remain involved namely, JSW Cement and JSW Steel USA.

Today, Mr Parth Jindal is the Managing Director of JSW Cement, Managing Director of JSW Paints, Founder of JSW Sports and is Chairman and Co-Owner of Delhi Capitals. Parth Jindal is also the Founder of Inspire Institute of Sport (a visionary project to elevate India’s Olympic caliber), Director of JSW Ventures and Director of JSW USA. Under his stewardship, JSW Sports was honored with the “Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar 2018”, by the President of India, for Encouragement to Sports through Corporate Social Responsibility. In his capacity as Director Bengaluru FC, Parth was elected unopposed as Vice President of the Western India Football Association.

Shoals' Q3 2024 revenue falls 23.9% due to project delays, supply chain

Shoals Technologies Group, a U.S.-headquartered manufacturer of electrical balance of systems (EBOS) for solar, energy storage, and e-mobility, reported a 23.9% year-over-year (YoY) decline in revenue, which dropped to $102.2 million in the third quarter (Q3) of 2024. FTC Solar sees 67% YoY decline in Q3 revenue from lower volumes

FTC Solar, a U.S.-based provider of solar tracker systems, reported a revenue of $10.14 million in the third quarter (Q3) of 2024, surpassing analyst expectations by $240,680. Dilip Buildcon wins bid for BharatNet Phase III broadband project

Dilip Buildcon announced on Tuesday, November 12, that its STL-DBL consortium had submitted the lowest bid for BSNL's BharatNet Phase III broadband connectivity project.
