Odisha greenlights 11 projects, attracts Rs 32.66 bn investment

The Odisha government has approved 11 industrial projects with a total worth of Rs 32.66 billion. These projects will generate employment opportunities for 9,146 people. The approval was given at the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority meeting, which was chaired by PK Jena, Chief Secretary.

The approved projects span across various sectors, including metal downstream and ancillary, chemicals, food processing, agro processing, plastics, textiles apparel, IT & ESDM (Electronics System Design and Manufacturing), and renewable energy. They will be set up in Balasore, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Khurda, and Jajpur districts.

Some notable projects include Nestle India Limited's food processing unit with an investment of over Rs 8.9 billion, which will provide employment to over 800 people. Colortone Garments, a subsidiary of First Step Baby-Wear and the second-largest baby-wear manufacturer in India, will establish an integrated apparel manufacturing facility along with a 1.2 MW rooftop captive solar power plant. This project, with an investment of over Rs 2 billion, will generate employment for over 4,820 people.

Himadri Specialty Chemical, a prominent name in the chemicals sector, has received approval to set up their first chemical manufacturing unit in Odisha. This project, with an investment of over Rs 9.8 billion, will provide employment to over 1,400 people.

Furthermore, Odisha is attracting investments in the plastics sector, with three key projects receiving approval. IDVB Recycling Operations will establish a new unit for recycled pet flakes and recycled per resin products, creating employment opportunities for over 240 people. Purv Packaging will set up a new manufacturing unit for plastic caps, pet preforms, and allied products, generating employment for over 133 people.

These projects reflect Odisha's efforts to diversify its industrial ecosystem beyond mining and metallurgy. The state is becoming an attractive destination for investments in various sectors, driving economic growth and employment opportunities.
