Mumbai-Pune: Cable-stayed bridge will cut commute time
Mumbaikars can expect a quicker journey to Pune within a year because of ongoing construction of a crucial cable-stayed bridge as part of the Rs.66.95 billion missing link project along the Lonavala ghat section. This bridge, with four 182-metre tall pylons, will be a landmark feat, standing against severe wind pressures in Tiger Valley of Lonavala. Once completed, it will reduce travel time by half an hour, benefiting thousands of motorists who commute between Mumbai and Pune daily. The project also includes construction of twin tunnels, recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s widest, spanning 47 metres over 10 lanes. This project aims to bypass the Khandala ghat section, cutting the distance by over 6 km.

Neutral outlook on construction sector for FY25: Ind-Ra
India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) has maintained a neutral outlook on the construction sector for FY25, while maintaining a deteriorating sub-sector outlook for roads engineering, procurement and construction (EPC). The agency expects EPC players to post a healthy performance in FY25, with a moderation in the revenue growth rate, accompanied with a modest uptick in operating margins while maintaining adequate liquidity buffers. After the 30 percent CAGR growth over FY20-FY24, the centre’s own capex is projected to grow at 17 percent in FY25, following lower spends in an election year. Acceleration in sector-specific private sector capex and continued growth in state spending may partially offset the lower central spend.
