Jaipur Development Body to expand by 1,000 sq km

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is preparing to significantly expand its jurisdiction by an additional 1,000 sq km, which will incorporate 272 villages from the Jaipur Rural and Dudu districts as part of the ambitious Master Plan 2047. This proposal aims to address the growing needs of the expanding urban population and is set to be finalized in an upcoming JDA meeting scheduled for early November.

Currently, the JDA’s Master Plan, which has been in effect since 2000, covers an area of approximately 5,000 sq km. The new proposal seeks to extend this coverage to 6,000 sq km, enhancing the authority's control over various municipalities and villages. This expansion includes 229 villages from ten tehsils in Jaipur Rural and 40 villages from three tehsils in Dudu.

With this move, the JDA aims to extend its reach beyond the traditional urban zones governed by the Jaipur Municipal Corporation, thereby facilitating systematic and phased development over the next 25 years. JDA officials believe that this expansion will allow for better planning and infrastructure development in newly incorporated areas, which have seen rapid population growth and urbanization.

This initiative signifies a proactive approach to urban management, aiming to ensure that new developments meet the needs of the community while providing essential services and infrastructure. As the JDA prepares to take these crucial steps, local residents and stakeholders await the outcomes of the upcoming meeting, hopeful for the positive changes that the expanded jurisdiction could bring to the region.
