Construction of four lakh houses under PMAY-U approved

Government approves construction of four lakh houses under PMAY-Urban, central sanctioning and monitoring committee

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), the government has reportedly approved the construction of nearly 4 lakh affordable houses, thus taking the total number to about 7.25 million.

This initiative has come with regards to achieving the government’s target of 10 million homes for urban areas in the country. The approval for construction 4 lakh affordable houses was given by the central sanctioning and monitoring committee (CSMC) of the PMAY-U.

Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have been reportedly sanctioned nearly 1 lakh houses each. With an aim of providing houses for the urban masses, the PMAY-U was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure Housing for all by 2022.
