Construction cess collection up 30% in FY 2022-23

The Guiarat government's building cess revenue increased by more than 30% in the fiscal year 2022–2023—the biggest growth in a single year to date. The profits of the cess increased to 7480 million in 2022–2023 from 5720 million in that year.

The government has high hopes for this year's cess collection. It was announced that $900 million would be used to provide housing, health care, and educational opportunities for construction workers and their families.

The cost of each building's construction is subject to a 1% cess imposed by the state government.

The welfare of construction workers and their families is supported by this money. For the first time, the amount of construction cess collected has increased by more than 30%. Officials from the state administration said that the increase was the consequence of more thorough monitoring and coverage.
