Ladakh LG Radha Krishna Mathur inaugurates Rs 12 cr infra projects

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Radha Krishna Mathur inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various projects at Government Model Degree College (GMDC) Padum Zanskar.

The LG was accompanied by the Vice-Chancellor University of Ladakh Professor S K Mehta, Executive Councilor for Zanskar Affairs Er Punchok Tashi, Member Parliament Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Councilors of LAHDC Kargil, Sub Divisional Magistrate Zanskar Sonam Dorjay, Principal GMDC Zanskar Nassir Shabani, besides other concerned officials.

He inaugurated the 915 Meter Link Road to GMDC Zanskar and the Administrative Block of the college built for Rs 10.48 crores under the Central Sponsored Scheme and Rs 1.50 crores under the District Capex Budget, respectively.

He additionally laid the foundation stone of the Passive Solar 50 Bedded Girls and Boys Hostels, Passive Solar Gazetted and Non-Gazetted Staff Quarters, Passive Solar Indoor Stadium cum Multipurpose Hall, Science Laboratory Block and Landscaping and Beautification Works of the college campus at a total value of Rs 32 crores under the Special Development Package (SDP).

The LG additionally began the college website on the occasion and communicated with the faculty members and students.

LG Mathur, on the occasion, said that the UT Administration is interested to form GMDC Zanskar as an intellectual centre and the inauguration and foundation stone laying of the projects is proof of the importance of the Government of India and the University of Ladakh to advance the level of higher education in Zanskar.
