New Hexagonal Wall Method Will 3 BC Construction Speed

The Boring Company (TBC) is making significant strides in tunnel construction, achieving an impressive rate of approximately 40 meters per day. This remarkable pace encompasses both the excavation and the reinforcement of the tunnel with concrete. A recent observation by Will, the host of the Boring Revolution Youtube channel, has revealed a noteworthy development the presence of hundreds of hexagonal concrete segments at the Boring Company.

This revelation indicates that the Boring Company has transitioned to utilizing hexagonal pieces for their tunnel walls. This strategic shift holds the potential to streamline tunnel construction by standardizing wall segments, facilitating tunneling and wall construction at a remarkable rate of over 100 meters per day.

This innovative approach could nearly triple the construction speed envisioned by experts like Will. He had previously calculated that TBC's Prufrock Ill machines could construct tunnels at a rate of 40 meters per day or 280 meters per week. With six machines in operation, this would translate to an impressive 1680 meters per week. For context, this accelerated pace could enable the completion of the ambitious 104,000 meters (equivalent to 64 miles) Vegas Strip construction project in just 1.5 years.

However, with the adoption of hexagonal wall segments and each of the six machines constructing 100 meters per day, the weekly progress could reach an astonishing 600 meters. This accelerated rate would potentially allow for the entire Vegas tunnel and tunnel construction project to be completed in approximately six months, marking a significant acceleration in tunneling technology and construction efficiency.
