Challenging Role of the Modern BIM manager

BIM Technology is transforming the way the construction industry operates. In many countries, the use of BIM has been made mandatory for large-scale projects. India also seems to be gearing up with the BIM technology because of the greater productivity and profitability it offers. But the challenge in front of BIM managers is to adopt change management.  With reliance on complex technologies in the construction industry, the role of a BIM manager is evolving further. Lack of expertise, lack of awareness, resistance to change, etc are a few challenges faced by BIM managers. 

The role of a BIM manager is going to change in a way that will evolve more of IT-based management. Data will be the key and BIM managers will need to have multiple skill sets and expertise to gather the best insights from data available.

Construction Technology Summit had a panel discussion titled “Evolving Role of the Modern BIM manager”, where the panellists shared their thoughts on current trends in BIM, challenges, and best practices.
