NMDC first PSU to implement ERP solution

India's largest iron-ore miner, National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) Ltd, announced the implementation of SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution at a go-live event.

The ERP solution system will help integrate and consolidate all the business processes end-to-end and improve operational efficiency.

NMDC is implementing the ERP to improve performances in areas like production, procurement, inventory management, finance, dispatch management, human resource management, etc. This will also help achieve better transparency, ease of doing business, and overall customer satisfaction improvement.

The PSU claimed that this ERP solution system would place the company in a different league in the mining sector. The company said that it would be the first Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE), to implement ERP solutions on the most advanced platform SAP – S/4 HANA, on such an enormous scale, having over 2,000 professional user licenses together with industry solutions for mining and steel.

NMDC's Director (Finance) Amitava Mukherjee, under whom the project is being implemented, claimed that the ERP system is not just to secure NMDC's future, but also displays the company's commitment to stakeholders and to bring in more transparency in its business operations. The company said the new ERP system will also form a backbone for future digital initiatives.
