World’s second largest Hindu temple opens in New Jersey

The Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan (BAPS) Sanstha, a socio-spiritual Hindu faith with its roots in the Vedas officially opened the 185-acre campus BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham temple, which is believed to be the second largest Hindu temple in the world, in Robbinsville, New Jersey. The temple, which was built by over 12,500 volunteers from around the world, had been under construction for 12 years. Visitors will have their breath taken away by the 255-foot wide, 345-foot long and 191-foot tall temple. Placing 2 million cubic feet of stone in Robbinsville Township was no small feat. The traditional Indian step well contains water from 300 Indian rivers and all the 50 US states.
