Tamil Nadu CM unveils Rs 5.41 billion housing projects and platform

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin launched newly built flats costing Rs 5.41 billion and launched a streamlined online approval system for building permits. Approximately 4,184 flats, constructed by the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board and 1,459 flats for government servants, along with commercial complexes built at a cost of Rs 3.82 billion by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board, were inaugurated by the Chief Minister at a function held at the secretariat.

In a first for the state, the Chief Minister introduced a single-window system to facilitate the approval of building permits based on self-certification for non-high-rise buildings. This new online system eliminates the need for a completion certificate for residential buildings on plots up to 2,500 square feet and built-up areas up to 3,500 square feet, according to an official release.

This initiative is expected to benefit owners of small commercial complexes who typically face delays in obtaining planning approvals. (Source: ET)
