Panchkula residents protest parking tax

Residents of Panchkula are upset with the Panchkula Municipal Corporation for issuing notices demanding property tax for parking lots within group housing societies.

The House Owners Welfare Association (HOWA), led by chairman Bharat Hiteshi, has strongly opposed the imposition of property tax on parking areas in the city. Hiteshi and other association members met with Zonal Taxation Officer Akash Kapoor to discuss their concerns. The delegation raised objections to the Municipal Corporation including parking area tax in the property tax bills of several group housing societies.

Following the meeting, ZTO Akash Kapoor assured Hiteshi that no tax would be imposed on parking areas. He also mentioned that any charges imposed on parking area tax due to technical reasons would be rectified.

Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal commented on the issue, assuring the public that no additional burden would be placed on them. He stated that tax notices sent to individuals would be corrected.
