Over 50% of Ahmedabad taxes paid online

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) announced that they had amassed revenue totalling Rs 10.04 billion from April 1 to September 2, with the majority of this sum originating from property tax, amounting to Rs 8.28 billion. According to the AMC, tax collection during this period experienced an increase compared to the previous year. In the first five months of the preceding fiscal year, the civic body had gathered Rs 7.16 billion. The AMC also reported that 53% of their overall tax payments were conducted online.

Jainik Vakil, the chairman of AMC's revenue committee, remarked, "The tax rebate scheme and stringent measures against defaulters have yielded favourable outcomes. We have provided rebates to early-paying taxpayers and imposed penalties on defaulters by issuing notices, sealing properties, and even auctioning off such properties."
