Oberoi ties up with EESL for energy initiatives across properties

Luxury hotel conglomerate Oberoi Group has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), an energy services company of the Indian government, to implement energy-efficient initiatives, including clean energy systems across Oberoi properties.

EESL will collaborate with all Oberoi Group hotels under its Building Energy Efficiency Programme to evaluate opportunities for saving energy and reducing emissions and recommend select energy programs from its portfolio, the company told the media.

The energy services company of the Indian government will provide technical support and extend its procurement advantage through its partners across the energy sector, the statement added. The potential solutions will include energy-efficient lighting, electric motors and pumps, air-conditioning, ventilation systems, indoor air quality systems and electric vehicles along with charging infrastructure.

Oberoi Group, Founded in 1934, Oberoi Group currently operates 33 hotels across India, two Nile cruisers and a motor vessel in Kerala's backwaters.

EESL is a joint venture of four PSUs under the Ministry of Power—National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd, Power Finance Corporation, Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd, and Power Grid Corporation of India.
