The Citizen and Society Development Welfare body of Dharavi [Asia's biggest slum] residents have agreed to support the state government in the survey conducted on informal homes, ahead of Adani's $3 billion rehabilitation programme, which promises to change living conditions of approximately one million residents of Dharavi in Mumbai.The association members are seeking faster progress in the Dharavi slum survey  and also asked that legal action be taken against those opposed to the survey process since its uninterrupted progress is essential for the benefit of all residents of Dharavi and the redevelopment process can only go forward once the survey is over.The survey identifies residents who have proof of living prior to January 2000. Mapping of the entire 600-acre area is very integral to the redevelopment process and may take seven years to finish. Every eligible resident will be provided a 350 sq ft flat in the area after completion of the project while others will be relocated elsewhere in Mumbai.
