NDMC to redevelop all kiosks in phased manner by March

New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to rebuild and give an aesthetic look to kiosks in its locations in a phased way by March.

Satish Upadhyay, the NDMC Vice-Chairman, told the media that the current kiosks are 50 years old, and it is essential to redevelop them for a uniform look.

In Phase-1, NDMC would rebuild 30 kiosks of 6x6 feet and later, 200-250 kiosks would be redeveloped, with an entire RCC structure and terrazzo flooring and walls under Smart City Project.

These kiosks would be with more electrical fittings. The redevelopment cost of each kiosk is around Rs 11 lakh.

Upadhyay told the media that granite and tiles would also be used in and around the area to make it look modern and attractive.

NDMC has constructed the first sample kiosk at Constitution Club at Rafi Marg and seeks to finish the project this financial year (FY) 2022.

Moreover, outside every kiosk, a display plane would be installed to put advertisements in future.

The Vice-Chairman revealed that these kiosks would not require much maintenance after refurbishment.

Just a wash would be enough to maintain cleanliness, and these kiosks would have provision for openings from three sides.

Upadhyay said that the council took this beautification step as a part of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM). He said their aim is to beautify every NDMC area by adding new amenities and renovating the old ones in a phased manner.

The goal is to reach 5 Star or above ranking in the forthcoming Swachhta Survekshan 2022.
