Cove – A north Goa residence by Studio IAAD

This 5,000 sqft residence is conceptualised with three distinct clients at its nucleus, ensuring that each end-user felt tethered to the overall design narrative. An equilibrium of all their sensibilities, the residence shuns superfluous ornamentation for a rooted identity that reiterates the pleasures associated with unwinding in one’s own private sanctuary.

The sea-facing plot is limited in its square footage, whilst offering arresting views of the horizon that lays in the distance, framing the verdant neighbouring plantation’s views against the clear blue skies. The site is dotted by lush coconut and almond trees that create an envelope of green around the home.

The living area

Exuding an earthy charm and a modern minimalism, the living area of this home has a chic comfortable vibe to it. The accent wall of the living room is clad with a busy printed wallpaper in contrast to the clean sophisticated single shade muted furniture placed across the space. A simple wooden coffee table and a wall fixed console add elegance to the living room.

The enclosed lounge area of this home is a space where residents can relax and with a view of the plantations and the ocean. An L-shaped couch with printed upholstery and coffee table adorn the space and add to its charm. The floor to ceiling glass windows floods the room with natural light and give way to serene views.

The dining nook of the home is a cosy space characterised by a wooden dining table and storage units. The table is a symbolism of minimalism coupled with cushioned chairs to provide comfort seating to the owners of the home.

Suspended from the ceiling at various levels, these light fixtures add an oomph the house by being a defining design element.

The deck and swimming pool

A semi open deck on the first floor over looking the sea and the tree plantations, is adorned with minimal chic white furniture that contrasts the grey flooring. A spacious area for everyone to relax and enjoy the views with a cuppa of your choice.

The lap pool with its rustic gargoyle fountain spouts extends through the breadth of the home overlooking the insides of the home. The pool elevates the modern living factor of this home to the home.

The deck at the ground floor next to the pool has wooden flooring and white modern furniture. Continuing to the minimalistic approach, a white bench style dining table and a couch in the same colours give a beautiful contrast to the space. The views add to the beautiful aura of this space.

A rustic minimal bedroom

The bedroom of this home has an old-world charm with an earthy look. The bed has an upholstered back with wooden side polls that have curtains hung on them adding to the vintage vibe of the room. Adjacent to the bed is a small wooden console adding to the minimalistic feel of the space.

The bathroom of this home is made with a modern design with the use of tile, glass and basic fittings. Clean modern interiors and a light fixture next to the mirror work ad a design element with functionality.

The relationship amidst the indoors and outdoors in the North Goa Residence pays homage to the nature-based legacy that Goa celebrates. The outdoor spaces are created as an extension to the interior living spaces, where the families can spend time in the lap of nature, under the azure skies and the ocean’s fringes. This North Goa Residence fixates on the narration of a design story that allows the site’s pristine natural identity to create a residence where the ocean, sky and the plantations welcome the home into their tranquil embrace, creating a refuge for the homeowners.
