Projects under the Thiruvananthapuram smart city programme are gaining speed, with four projects on the lines of execution. Besides, the first evaluation of the Rs 1.52-bn IT component, which belongs to the second set of the smart city programmes, has reportedly begun. The three projects for which technical sanctions are expected to be approved soon include esablishment of information kiosks, drinking water fountains and upgrading toilets. The IT component consists of eight pan-city projects, including intelligent traffic system, solid waste management software and disaster management software. Contact: P.
