The central govt will provide financial assistance for the purchase and operation of these buses in Chhattisgarh. A substantial portion of the funds will also be allocated for developing essential infrastructure, such as bus depots, in the cities. It is planned to complete the entire project on priority by March 2027. The project envisages lifting of 24.01 TMC of water available during monsoon from Yettinahole, Kadumane Hole, Keri Hole and Hongada halla coming under western ghats in Sakleshpur taluk of Hassan district to mitigate the acute drinking water problem in drought-prone areas, especially in Chikkaballapur and Kolar districts and other needy areas. The project is planned to be completed on a priority basis by March 2027. Latur coach factory commissioned for roll out of new Vande Bharat sleeper trainsThe joint venture (JV) of a Russian rolling stock major and a railway PSU commissioned the Marathwada Rail Coach Factory in Latur where 1,920 new age sleeper coaches for Vande Bharat trains or 120 train sets will be manufactured. The first train set may be rolled out in the next two years. The JV, Kinet Railway Solutions has got the contract for manufacturing coaches and maintaining them for 35 years. The Rail Coach Factory spread over 351 acres is equipped with 11 advanced assembly stations. Earlier it was a 16-coach train but now it has been decided to make it 24-coach Sleeper Vande Bharat train.Centre prioritising infra development because of its strategic importanceThe Centre has prioritised infrastructure development in Meghalaya, recognising its strategic importance in the northeastern region, Raj Bhushan Choudhary, Union Minister, said. Choudhary, the MoS for Jal Shakti, said that under the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, the Centre was working to enhance road connectivity, improve rail and air infrastructure, and upgrade digital networks in the state. Pointing out that tourism is a key driver of economic growth in Meghalaya, he said the state government with the active support of the Centre has launched several initiatives under the Swadesh Darshan and PRASAD schemes. He said these initiatives aim to promote Meghalaya.Rail bridges to be constructed over four rivers in Cuttack, BhubaneswarCurrently, trains are getting delayed due to the lack of a third line. Four more bridges will be constructed by the Railways on four rivers - Birupa, Mahanadi, Kathajodi, and Kuakhai - in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. These bridges will come up on the Nergundi-Barang section of 22 km. A tender has been floated for the project. The 22-km rail line section is a part of the strategic third line expansion between Bhadrak in Odisha and Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh (385 km) on the Howrah-Chennai mainline. The most important railway bridge (2.1 km long) will be on the mighty Mahanadi river. The new Mahanadi rail bridge, along with other important bridges on rivers Birupa, Kathajodi, and Kuakhai, are part of the third line project. These will not only enhance the capacity and reliability of the railway network but also ensure safe and efficient travel.CM flags off first pilgrimage train from Jaipur to Madurai, RameshwaramBhajanlal Sharma, CM, Rajasthan, flagged off the first pilgrimage special train from Jaipur to Madurai and Rameshwaram at Durgapura Railway Station. Earlier this year, about 3,000 pilgrims were taken on a pilgrimage to Ayodhya Shri Ram Temple. Under the scheme, this year, out of 36,000 pilgrims, 15,000 pilgrims will be taken to Ayodhya and 15,000 pilgrims will be taken on a pilgrimage to other sites. Also, 6,000 pilgrims will be taken on a pilgrimage to Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu (Nepal) by air.Indian Railways’ Sivok-Rangpo Rail Line Project: 23.95 km of piling work done The Sivok-Rangpo New Rail Line Project, a crucial infrastructure development aimed at enhancing rail connectivity in Sikkim, is making significant strides. Covering a total length of 44.96 km, this project promises to bolster transportation and economic growth in the northeastern region of India. The project has successfully completed 23,953 metres of piling work, a key component in establishing the foundation for the rail line. Tunnel mining works have progressed to 36 km, paving the way for the railway tunnels essential for the line. Lining work for the tunnels is currently at 16 km, ensuring structural stability and safety. The construction of piers, which support the rail tracks, is ongoing with 828 metres already completed.
