Solar projects up for grabs in Meghalaya

Under the Meghalaya Community Intervention Project, the Meghalaya New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (MNREDA) has issued an invitation for bids for the design, provision, installation, and maintenance of grid-connected solar and solar plus battery storage projects.

Through the use of renewable energy sources, the initiatives seek to improve the rural community's standard of living in Meghalaya.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB), which has helped the Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation (MePDCL) with a grant of $2 million and a loan of $132.9 million, will pay for the projects.

By installing rooftop solar systems, battery hybrid systems (on and off-grid), and solar electricity in schools covered by the loan, the proposed award aims to assist specific areas.

The installation of solar LED lighting, grid upgrades, and buildings are also included in the scope. The deadline for submitting online bids is June 7, 2023. The following day, the bids will be opened. Bidders are required to provide a bid security deposit of Rs 800,000. Within nine months of the grant letter's issuing, the project must be put into motion.

The bidder must have successfully completed comparable projects as a contractor, joint venture partner, or subcontractor in order to participate in the bidding process. The value of the bidder's involvement under each contract must be greater than Rs 50 million.

Additionally, bidders must have successfully developed battery-based hybrid projects, including an energy management system to track PV production, and supplied, installed, and commissioned such projects.
