POWERGRID Invites Bids for 187.5 MW/750 MWh Battery Storage Project

Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) has invited online bids for developing a 187.5 MW/750 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Telangana. The project is intended to strengthen grid stability and support the integration of renewable energy into the electricity network.

Designated as Package TS-BESS-01, the project carries Tender Reference Number CC/T/W-BESS/DOM/A02/26/14098. The proposed BESS will provide 187.5 MW of power capacity and 750 MWh of energy storage, equivalent to 4 hours of storage at full output.

The tender is being conducted through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route and is classified as a power and energy project works contract. Eligible companies can access the tender documents through POWERGRID’s PRANIT Portal using RFX Number 5002005732, subject to the stated technical, financial and pre-qualification requirements.

The participation fee has been fixed at Rs. 25,000, while the tender value and earnest money deposit (EMD) are listed as zero on the portal. Bidders are required to review the official documents for eligibility conditions, technical specifications, commercial requirements and other instructions before submitting their offers.

The tender schedule set October 12, 2026, at 7:50 PM as the start of document sales and soft copy bid submissions. Document sales will close on October 17 at 11:55 PM, while bids must be submitted by October 19 at 11:00 AM and are scheduled to be opened at 11:30 AM the same day. The tender is being managed by Satyam Gupta, Engineer (CS), from POWERGRID’s corporate office in Gurugram, Haryana. The project will add flexible storage capacity that can absorb electricity when supply is available and discharge it during periods of higher demand or lower renewable generation, supporting grid balancing and the wider integration of solar and wind power.
